Flowers

The southern subcontinent of Africa is a wildflower paradise, displaying over 18 500 different species of flowering plants from tall trees to tiny succulents. The region has greater diversity than all of Europe and North America and in concentrated areas rivals the tropical forests of the Amazon. The mountain slopes around Cape Town alone constitute one of the world’s largest natural Floral Kingdoms, the best views of which can be found at the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. In August and September, vast areas of the Cape West Coast are carpeted with colourful wild flowers at the start of spring. The desert sands of Namibia and the Kalahari each produce their own unique and species and the further north you go, through forests, savannahs and grasslands, the wider the varieties become. Tell us what interests you. We can tailor-make a floral tour incorporating wild flowers, private gardens, mountain or forest walks with a choice of specialist guides.
