Julia Naughton

Julia Naughton is the joint owner of African Leisure Safaris, with her business partner of 20 years, Tish Reader.

What defines her is her passionate commitment to and love of, the continent of Africa.

Her travelling, her reading, her focus revolves around the continent and its wilderness areas, animals and people.

Born in Cape Town and bred in Johannesburg, she completed a degree in English and History at the then University of the Witwatersrand followed by a Journalism honours degree at the University of Stellenbosch.

Serendipitously, Julia and Tish met again after marriage and babies, and in the dark decade of the eighties in South Africa, they began their tailor-made safari and travel company, African Leisure Safaris.

Against all the odds, the little company survived and as the nineties began, and Nelson Mandela was freed, they found themselves in the very right place at most definitely the right time!

So the company has grown along with the miraculous growth and emergence of the country itself.

For Julia it is a privilege and an honour to give people the opportunity to travel to Africa so that they can fall in love for themselves!
