How to have the Perfect Honeymoon in Southern Africa!
Posted by Julia and filed under: Tailor-made safaris, Ultimate honeymoons
Southern Africa has destinations made for simply the best, most romantic and exotic honeymoons imaginable.
We, at African Leisure Safaris, have over the years perfected the honeymoon and it goes like this:
To begin, it is best to fly direct into Cape Town (loads of options from the UK on several carriers) or from the USA via Johannesburg. When you land in Cape Town you would be met by one of our representatives. From then on, all responsibility is surrendered and you and your partner can relax completely and enjoy the honeymoon which would continue as follows...
Le Quartier Français in the "French Corner" of the Cape Winelands You will be driven from the airport to the stunning and dramatic Atlantic seaboard to stay at Ellerman House Hotel for 3 nights.
The sea-facing rooms have views that are simply breath-taking, the hotel has only 15 rooms so already the ambience is intimate, personal and attentive but if privacy is what you want, the staff know exactly how to oblige!
Cape Town is a beautiful, romantic and contrasting city. Whilst you are here, there is a huge range of activities that you could enjoy from exploring the natural beauty of the city, Table Mountain, Cape Point nature reserve where two oceans meet, miles of beautiful beaches and coastline, wonderful dining and exciting shopping both sophisticated and market, and many aspects of the cultural diversity of the city itself. If you are a more independent traveller, you can easily do this all on your own with our guidance and your hired car, or you can use one of our extremely experienced guides and vehicle. Either way you will be given maximum flexibility to vary the days as you wish.
From there, you would drive out into the spectacular winelands (a short 40 minute drive) to the small historic village of Franschhoek originally colonized by the French Hugenot émigrés about 300 years ago. Here you will stay at Le Quartier Français for 2 nights.
Singita is one of the top five hotels in the world Exploring the area offers you an overwhelming choice but some of the most romantic and beautiful places are Waterford Winery where your wine-tasting is paired with a chocolate tasting! Tokara’s winery and restaurant (with one of the best views from your table), Grande Provence with its sophisticated décor, art gallery and top international chef! There is definitely not be enough time to pack it all in but leaving plenty of things to come back for, you will drive back to Cape Town.
Fly to Kruger International Airport and from there directly into the bushveld of northern South Africa to stay at Singita Game Reserve to stay for 3 nights. Whether you choose Boulders, Ebony, Lebombo or Sweni (all under the Singita banner) you will be getting an incomparable safari experience. Singita has always been voted within the top 10 safari destinations by every discerning publication; accommodation always exceeds our clients' expectations, the game viewing experience is quite remarkable, with close-up encounters of big cats a regular feature, excellent food served in unusual settings, and staff who have passion and commitment.
The stunning Oberoi Hotel, Mauritius From here you will be flown back to Johannesburg where you will take your onward flight to Mauritius.
Here, your honeymoon will end off with 5 nights of total rest and relaxation at The Oberoi with pure white beaches set in 20 acres of private property, huge rooms of understated oriental elegance, endless activities or complete indolence, the honeymoon will slow down in a haze of luxury, tranquillity and peace.
